When a high-end terrace in Potts Point’s most-loved avenue hit the market, it was high on the wish list for discerning, design-led buyers. But rather than selling with fanfare, it became a case study in patience - and the enduring value of long-term relationships.

The home itself was a standout: one of the area’s few substantial terraces with uninterrupted views of the city skyline, Harbour Bridge, and Opera House. With 360sqm of living space and multiple outdoor entertaining zones, it was of a calibre seen more commonly in decades, not months.
It was always going to be coveted, but in this case, timing, and an existing connection, was everything. “The buyers were previous clients of mine,” says BresicWhitney agent Chris Breedon. “Back in January they mentioned they were looking to upsize locally, and asked me to keep them in mind if the right place came up. If it did, they wanted to be among the first to know.”

That moment came in March when the Potts Point home was due to launch to market. Chris immediately notified a handful of parties, including the eventual buyers, who happened to be overseas for an extended period of time. “I wanted to show them straight away, but the timing didn’t work. The home went to market but didn’t find the perfect buyer. The owners were happy to be patient until it felt that way, so we paused the campaign.”
The home was kept active on BresicWhitney’s website - often referred to as its ‘off-market’ portal - which features a selection of exclusive Sydney homes for sale, that aren’t listed anywhere else. “This was very intentional as it allowed us to continue engaging with qualified buyers throughout the BresicWhitney network.”

When the buyers returned from Europe to Sydney, over Winter, the conversation recommenced. “They specifically asked if they could see the home and over about a fortnight they visited it several times. They weren’t active buyers in the traditional sense, but they’d remembered the home. And now, the timing was right.”
What happens when an agent truly knows their buyers - and how Sydney’s most desirable homes often sell in conversations, not campaigns.

The result? An off-market sale that came full-circle. “Homes in this price bracket don’t always follow a traditional timeline,” Chris reflects. “It was a powerful example of how relationships between buyers and agents go deeper than the window of any given campaign. Listening early, understanding their lifestyle needs, and being agile to change tact for the benefit of our client when needed were all factors here.”
Homes of this nature don’t just tick boxes, Chris concludes. “They have that classic ‘Sydney’ quality that people remember: the streetscape, the architecture, the views. It’s hard to forget about once you’ve experienced it - let alone for buyers if you can see your next decade (or more) there.”
